During the Nursery and Reception years, the children work within developmental age bands: 30-50 months and 40-60 months. The children often spend a large proportion of the year within the same age band, and this is completely acceptable as the bands are so broad.

They develop learning and skills in the areas of:

PRIME AREAS

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Physical Development

Communication and Language

SPECIFIC AREAS

Literacy

Mathematics

Understanding the World

Expressive arts and design

At St Luke’s, children in the Foundation Stage follow the Come and See RE scheme of work as the main topic. We also follow the children’s interests to make their learning more fun and relevant.
