Meals are cooked on the premises and provided at a present cost of £1.80 per day. Dinner money for Reception and Y1 children is collected on Fridays, in advance, and should be sent to school in an envelope clearly marked with the child’s name. A cafeteria system operates for Years 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 offering the children a choice of menu which they pay for at the till.
Packed lunches can be brought to school and should be in a lunch box marked with the child’s name. Glass containers and Thermos flasks are not permitted. Children must not change from school dinners to packed lunches or vice versa. A decision should be made at the beginning of each half term and children must stick to that choice for the half term.
If your child has a packed lunch please encourage them to have healthy options i.e. cereal bars, yoghurts, fruit and juice. St. Luke’s is part of the ‘Healthy Schools’ programme so we aim to promote healthy eating in our school.
Fruit and milk
All Foundation stage and infant children are given free fruit and milk each day. Please let us know if our child has any allergies such as lactose intolerance. All children have access to fresh drinking water throughout the day. Please provide them with a suitable water bottle.
Children are given a snack in Foundation and Year One. We ask for a contribution of £1 per week per child to cover the cost of snack. This includes a variety of choices such as cereal, sandwich, yoghurt, crackers and cheese, a plain biscuit, crumpets, toast or pancakes.
