PSHE

At St Luke’s Catholic Primary School, Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education plays a central role in supporting pupils’ personal development, wellbeing and character. Our PSHE curriculum is carefully planned to help pupils grow into confident, respectful and responsible individuals, rooted in our Catholic values and prepared for life in modern Britain.

Our PSHE Curriculum

We use Unifrog to deliver a high-quality PSHE curriculum across all year groups. This programme is closely aligned with the PSHE Association objectives and supports pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development.

The curriculum is progressive, age-appropriate and responsive to pupils’ needs, ensuring that knowledge and skills are built over time. It supports pupils to understand themselves, develop healthy relationships and make informed choices.

What Pupils Learn

Through PSHE, pupils are taught to:

  • Develop resilience, confidence and independence
  • Understand and manage emotions and wellbeing
  • Build positive, respectful relationships
  • Recognise and challenge discrimination and stereotypes
  • Stay safe, including online and in the wider community
  • Understand their role as citizens and their responsibilities to others

Learning is delivered in a safe, supportive environment where pupils feel confident to ask questions and share ideas.

Catholic Ethos and Values

Our PSHE curriculum reflects our Catholic ethos and places strong emphasis on:

  • Respect for self and others
  • Compassion, kindness and forgiveness
  • Dignity of the human person
  • Responsibility within families, communities and society

These values underpin our approach to relationships, wellbeing and personal growth.
